Mary Jean

Mary Jean is a 49-metre motor yacht built in 1981 as Shanti. In 2005 she was refitted with a new owner's suite and interior scheme by H2 Yacht Design. She was built by Campanella and had enjoyed a long charter career. By 2004 she was looking tired. She was sold to new owners who admired her elegant lines, generous deck spaces and classic interior.

The complete refit in 2005 renamed her Mary Jean and prepared her for a busy 2006 charter season. H2 was asked to redesign the owner's suite in its entirety. The remaining interior areas were updated sympathetically, with maximum impact for minimal cost. The same refit lengthened the hull and brought the yacht to full Lloyd's classification.

Mary Jean has an 8.4-metre beam and sleeps 12 guests. She is MCA compliant and has a range of 3,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 13 knots. Further upgrades followed. In 2008 her hull and superstructure were repainted and new teak decks were laid throughout. She has chartered in both the Mediterranean and the South Pacific. H2's involvement with the yacht spans the 2005 refit and a later phase in 2010.

Astilleros de Mallorca was founded in 1942 in the heart of Palma's harbour. It began by repairing and maintaining the local merchant and fishing fleet, and the first vessels built there were wooden. In the 1990s it became one of the first yards in Spain to commit fully to yacht refit and repair. The yard has 23,000 square metres of operational area, four slipways and lifting capacity of up to 1,700 tonnes. Its outfitting docks take vessels of up to 120 metres.
