Dakota demonstrates how thoughtful interior design can breathe new life into an already exceptional sailing yacht. Originally built by Fitzroy Yachts in New Zealand with exterior design and naval architecture by Dubois Naval Architects, the 39-metre aluminium sloop was conceived as a true bluewater cruiser, capable of combining high-performance sailing with long-range comfort.

As part of a comprehensive refit completed in 2022 at Turquoise Yachts in Turkey, H2 Yacht Design was commissioned to completely reimagine the yacht's interior. The objective was to create a lighter, more contemporary living environment while respecting the yacht's timeless character and renowned sailing pedigree.

The redesigned interior introduces a calm residential atmosphere through a sophisticated palette of warm neutrals, soft creams and natural textures. Bespoke furnishings, carefully considered lighting and refined material selections transform both the upper and lower saloons into inviting social spaces that feel elegant, relaxed and highly liveable during extended cruising.

Accommodation for eight guests across four spacious staterooms is unusual for a performance sailing yacht of this size, making Dakota particularly versatile for private ownership and luxury charter. The reconfigured interior balances comfort with practicality, ensuring the yacht remains equally capable whether crossing oceans or enjoying relaxed coastal cruising.

Alongside the interior transformation, the extensive refit included significant upgrades to the yacht's sailing systems and mechanical equipment, preserving her exceptional sailing performance while bringing onboard comfort and functionality firmly into the modern era.

The result is a yacht that successfully combines the proven pedigree of a Dubois-designed performance sailing yacht with the contemporary residential design philosophy of H2 Yacht Design, creating a timeless luxury sailing yacht ready for her next generation of global adventures.
