A day in the life of a Superyacht Designer…

With over 30 years of experience in yacht interiors and exteriors, we recently hosted a design workshop in our Nice office for Young Professionals in Yachting.
The event was organised in collaboration with the Young Professionals in Yachting (YPY Monaco) association, which brings together the next generation of leaders shaping the future of the superyacht sector. It was a great opportunity to connect, share ideas, and exchange creative concepts among enthusiastic professionals.
The workshop was led by Gianluca Sist, our Design Director, who guided participants through the creative process. Each team received an owner’s brief and was challenged to design their own GA (General Arrangement) — balancing ambitious ideas within a yacht’s constraints.
In the second part of the session, attendees created mood boards, combining materials, finishes, and textures to capture the yacht’s aesthetic identity. From polished metals and natural woods to tactile fabrics and innovative composites, the tables quickly filled with visual stories that reflected each team’s unique interpretation of the client’s brief.
The result was an evening full of energy, collaboration, and inspiration — a reminder that design is as much about dialogue as it is about drawing. It was inspiring to see the teams’ approaches to the same brief with such diverse ideas, proving once again that there is no single formula for great yacht design — only passion, perseverance, and a willingness to explore.
We’d like to thank everyone who joined us for this creative session and brought such enthusiasm to the Nice studio. Events like this remind us how exciting it is to be part of a community shaping the next generation of the superyacht industry!
